Chef Recipes

Chef Recipes is an app that you can find recipes to cook the most amazing meals (Appetizers, Entrees and Desserts) This app also lets you save a meal and the shopping list so you can easily find what you need to get from the shop to create the food you want.

A three week project that I did survey, interviews, card sort, Affinity Mapping, Preference Test, Wireframes and Prototyping for.

Context

I got asked to create a food app for people that don't know how make good meals and or people that just want new recipes to make for them and others. The idea was to create a easy to use app that attracts people more than buying recipe books the app is completely free and you don't have to chop down trees so double win!

Research

Competitor Analysis

When doing competitor analysis I looked at BBC good foods and other food eating apps and I believe that this app is easier and better to use than them. Better colour used and also I feel like I had a better understanding on my target audience and what they want.

Surveys & Interviews

I interviewed many people from the ages 20-50 my target audience was mainly people that couldn't cook. Such as people that are starting university or are just moving out of home and haven't been taught how to cook as this app makes it easy to follow and use. I interviewed over the internet on apps such as Facebook and reddit I found Facebook university groups were the best places to find people to test and answer questions about this app that I am creating.

User Stories

I created user stories that I could use to better understand the potential needs of people who like cooking and or are getting started and don't know how to coo, to help decide on the functional requirements for Chef Recipes, and that I could refer back to throughout the project to keep focused.

The research into the community of people that can't cook or love to cook shows that they love to read recipes and books. However, they struggle to afford to buy books or find places to keep them when they have them. This gives an opportunity for creating an application that will help people or can't / love to cook be able to find really good recipes and also get other peoples opinions on them so you know if it is a good recipe or not.

From my interviews and surveys I created user personas to get a better understanding of the requirements needed to be made to make this app better for my target audience.

Mental Models

Using all the research I have found and conducted I made a mental model for each user personas in order to understand how the user might interact with the app, and to create a more intuitive user experience.
