Research

With the research I did I learnt a lot about an Industry I didn't know much about when I started that being wine. I did competitor research looking at companies such as Naked Wines (who are also based in Norwich) , The Fine Wine Company and many other really good wine company websites. From this competitor research I got to see three very different companies that are doing the same thing I got an extremely good understanding of what Virgin are doing differently and what they should maybe be doing. I also looked at non wine product pages such as Bellroy which is a wallet website they have a fun way of showing why their wallets are the best wallets another is a food website called Daily Harvest I have never seen such fun cool ways to show a product and I was trying to see if there was a way to show wine off in a cool new way but also by keeping it in line with the target audience.

After competitor research I did some tests with the existing product detail page with some people who are in the target audience after talking to the creative director of Virgin Wines. They made some good points about the current site one of which being the sizes of the images of the wines and not being able zoom in or see the image bigger.

The brief was not to change any of the existing information as the SEO is really good and they dont want to change that however when I asked the users what they look for when shopping for wine online or in a winery they would ask and look for this information:

When buying wine, people want to see information such as the grape varietals used, the region or country of origin, the vintage or year the wine was produced, the winery or producer, and any tasting notes or descriptions of the wine's flavour profile. Other helpful information may include the alcohol content, suggested serving temperature, and food pairing recommendations.

Accessibility of Virgin Wines

A gestural user interface is a system that recognizes body movement as the input for an interaction with digital information. That movement can be hand, limb, body.

Adequate contrast of text is necessary for all users, especially users with low vision. A 1.4.3 Contrast is the minimum for a AA level pass. If a link contains no text, the function or purpose of the link will not be presented to the user. This can introduce confusion for keyboard and screen reader users.

Usability review

Here is the Usability review that I presented to Virgin Wines.
